Have you ever tried fresh garbanzo beans (chickpea

Have you ever tried fresh garbanzo beans (chickpeas)? They’re almost impossible to find fresh at the grocery store, making them a unique crop to grow at home! 🧆🌱

Once the pods are formed, harvest the entire plant since it won't produce additional pods.

Tips for using fresh garbanzo beans:
🟢 Fresh Pods: Shell the fresh chickpeas and dry-roast them for an amazingly delicious, wholesome snack!
🍃 Edible Greens: Tender chickpea greens are also edible and delicious if picked early.

Want to boost your soil health organically? Adding

Want to boost your soil health organically? Adding composted cow manure (like Black Kow) to your garden beds is a simple way to enrich your soil! 🐮🌱

Composted manure supplies vital nutrients, organic matter, and beneficial soil microbes.

Top tips for amending your beds:
💩 Add compost or organic matter every 3 months.
🌾 Spread it evenly across raised beds rather than concentrating it in one spot.
💧 Don't worry if it seems slightly hydrophobic at first—it's totally normal and settles in with watering!

How often do you amend your garden beds? Drop your soil routine below! 👇

Ready to plant your okra seedlings outdoors? Timin

Ready to plant your okra seedlings outdoors? Timing and soil preparation are key! 🌿✨

Okra loves warm weather. If spring stays chilly, wait until nighttime temperatures consistently reach the mid-50s before transplanting. Planting too early will leave seedlings dormant until the warmth kicks in.

Key transplanting tips:
🌱 Mix high-quality compost, worm castings, and organic fertilizer into your raised bed soil.
🌱 Space seedlings roughly 4 inches apart when transplanting.
🌱 Give them plenty of sunlight and steady moisture to thrive!

When do you usually move your warm-season crops outdoors? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Looking for a high-yielding, delicious okra variet

Looking for a high-yielding, delicious okra variety? Jambalaya Okra is a fantastic choice! 🌾✨

Because the ground doesn't warm up until around May in areas like Southern California, starting seeds indoors as early as February gives you a great head start on the growing season.

Key tips for success:
🌱 Sow 1–2 seeds per cell in seed-starting trays.
⌛ Be patient—germination takes around 7–15 days!
💧 Keep soil consistently moist by watering from both top and bottom to saturate the medium.

12 YEARS without a single Jamun… then we tried this. 🌳

Our mature Jamun (Java plum/Duhat) tree was growing beautifully but wouldn't fruit. We tried an old technique that uses a nail/screw to create a small amount of stress in the tree.

A few months later—we finally had fruit! The tree produced clusters of Jamun that eventually ripened to their characteristic deep purple.

⚠️ This is our experience with one mature tree, not a guarantee or universal recommendation. Damaging bark can create openings for pests and disease, so keep that risk in mind.

Would you try this on a fruit tree that refuses to fruit?

Are your plants struggling with discolored leaves

Are your plants struggling with discolored leaves or slow growth? Soil nutrient deficiencies are one of the most overlooked problems in the garden! 🌿🌱

Plants need three essentials: water, sunlight, and proper nutrition. When organic nutrients are missing, your crop health and yields take a hit.

Here’s how to plan ahead:
1️⃣ Mix organic amendments like compost or manure into your soil 4–6 months in advance so they have time to break down.
2️⃣ Remember organic fertilizers can take 2–4 months to become fully available to plant roots.
3️⃣ Synthetic fertilizers offer immediate availability when fast intervention is needed.

Planning ahead keeps your garden thriving all season long! How do you build up your soil fertility? Drop your tips below! 👇
